Hoi An, Vietnam - Last weeks and Logistic Challenges
I'm rounding up the last couple weeks in Vietnam. The logistics here are always more complicated than they should be. Mostly because so many people are out to squeeze tourists for as much as they can. The people and even the airline pricing infrastructure has highly inflated prices for tourists. It's also hard to get consistent and honest answers to the basic question "what's the cheapest way for me to get from point A to point B, by airplane? I'm ok with any airline." Commissions and incomprehensibly complex allegences influence the response. I was told by two travel agents that no international flights fly from a conveniently nearby city, only to find out that indeed at least 2 airlines fly to at least Bangkok.
I probably won't be uploading many, if any, photos during the last 3 weeks of my trip, since it's much faster to do it from the states... and the budget is too strained for uploading large files via slow connections!
I should be back to the USA the 3rd week of August. I've had a wonderful, if exhausting, time abroad. I've met some fabulous people along the way, and made new friends.
I've actually made progress on my children's book sample, though I'll need to spend a lot of time at home actually doing finished paintings. I've worked on the computer so long, that my painting skills need longer to develop than I thought.
I feel so fortunate to have had this experience. I also miss my old friends, and I'm ready to come home!
Everyone write me and tell me how you're doing... I'm always happy to hear from friends!
